In creating her one-of-a-kind art frames, Ms. Telp employs the techniques of European artisans of the Middle Ages in water gilding, the application of real gold or silver leafs.
The graphic to the right shows Ms. Telp's step-by-step application of techniques used by Italian artisans of the 1400s: "Sgraffito," where gold leaf is exposed beneath a layer of paint, and "Pastiglia," where three-dimensional ornaments are applied and treated on the art surface. Specifically...

A. Sgraffito in red on gold leaf
B. Sgraffito in black on silver leaf
